How-To: Color Textured Hair

COLOR FORMULA:

STARTING LEVEL: Natural Level 4

TEXTURE TYPE: 5–6

HIGHLIGHT FORMULA 1:

• 30g Flash Lift Bonder Inside
• 2 oz (60ml) 20 Volume Pro-oxide Cream Developer

HIGHLIGHT FORMULA 2:

• ½ oz (15g) Blonde Idol High Lift .11
• ½ oz (15g) Blonde Idol High Lift .12
• 2 oz (60ml) 20 Volume Pro-oxide Cream Developer

GLOSS FORMULA 1 (ZONE 1)

• 1 oz (30ml) Shades EQ Gloss 09VRo Rose
• 1 oz (30ml) Shades EQ Gloss 08VRo Crystal Clear
• 2 oz (60ml) Shades EQ Processing Solution

STEP-BY-STEP:

SECTIONING:

• Section the hair into four quadrants. First separate the front from the back with a vertical parting from the top of the head to the top of the ear and repeat on the opposite side. Then divide the back equally with a vertical parting from the top of the head to the center of the nape, and from the top of the head to the front hairline.

APPLICATION:

• Starting in the back corner of the nape, take a ¼” (0.5cm) diagonal back section with a regular stitch and place on a foil. Apply Highlight Formula 1 and saturate, then fold and secure the foil.
• Without leaving any hair between sections, take another ¼” (0.5cm) diagonal back slice and use a comb to perform a teasylights technique to gently diffuse the section. Place section on a foil, and apply Highlight Formula 2, saturating completely. Then fold and secure the foil.
• Continue to drop down slices and alternate formulas and teasylight sections. Work up through the back quadrant, then repeat on opposite side.
• After back quadrants are complete, move to the front quadrant and, beginning at the front hairline and continue the same application method as the previous quadrants. Work through the section, alternating formulas and teasylight sections, until complete. Then repeat on opposite side.
• Process at room temperature until hair reaches yellow (not to exceed 50 minutes). Then rinse, shampoo and condition. Dry hair.
• Using a Global Application, apply Gloss Formula. Process for 20 minutes at room temperature, then rinse, shampoo and condition.
