As a stylist, you know that color correction can be one of the most challenging yet rewarding aspects of your craft. Clients trust you to take their color—whether it's over-processed hair, unwanted pigment buildup, or stubborn direct dyes—and transform it into beautiful, healthy-looking results. That’s where Malibu C comes into play.

Let’s get into why Malibu C Color Disruptor and CPR (Color Pigment Remover) are made for each other and designed to work together seamlessly for superior results.

Why They’re the Perfect Match

Malibu C’s wellness approach to corrective color services begins with Color Disruptor and CPR. This dynamic duo preserves the integrity of the hair while removing semi, demi, and permanent hair color. Controlling oxidation behind the chair to prioritize your client’s hair health should always be top of mind, which is why working with these non-oxidative wellness tools is vital.

Here’s how each one works, and why they complement each other perfectly.

Before and After Malibu C Color Correction

Malibu C Color Disruptor

Think of Color Disruptor as a pre-treatment. Just like pre-treating a stain on clothing, Color Disruptor—while not a color remover on its own—disrupts stubborn dye molecules for easier removal. For best results, layer CPR on top of Color Disruptor.

Key Benefits:

  • Quick and easy to apply
  • Non-oxidative (cannot damage hair)
  • Deep-penetrating, dual-based formula disrupts and loosens the most stubborn dye molecules

Malibu C CPR

Color mistakes happen, and when they do, Malibu C CPR steps in as a professional’s best friend. Unlike harsh bleaching agents, CPR uses a gentle, non-oxidative formula to reduce oxidative dye molecules without damaging the hair.

This means you can safely remove unwanted color while preserving your client’s hair health—no more fear of over-processing or breakage. It works especially well for removing artificial color buildup that occurs over time due to repeated color services.

Key Benefits:

  • Releases unwanted pigment from artificial hair color
  • Removes up to 1-3 levels of artificial pigment without shifting the hair’s natural pigment
  • Preserves the integrity of the hair
  • Removes mineral and other buildup from hair

Before and After Malibu C Color Disruptor/CPR

Why Use Them Together?

While CPR is effective on its own, using them in tandem gives you a one-two punch that will tackle even the most complex color correction situations. Start by applying Color Disruptor then layer CPR on top of Color Disruptor to reduce oxidative pigments.

This power duo ensures that your color removal process is thorough, safe, and effective—no unexpected surprises or damage. With these two in your arsenal, you can approach any color correction service with confidence, knowing that Malibu C has your back.

How To Begin Every Corrective Color Service

Step 1: Shampoo

Shampoo the hair using Malibu C Un-Do-Goo pH 9 Shampoo, then rinse and towel-dry.

Step 2: Use Malibu C Color Disruptor

Apply Malibu C Color Disruptor at the shampoo bowl, focusing on the areas where you want to remove artificial pigment. Comb through hair to ensure even saturation. Do not rinse.

Step 3: Activate CPR

  • Add 1 packet of CPR to 4 ounces of warm water
  • Mix and allow the crystals to dissolve

Step 4: Layer CPR directly on top of Color Disruptor

  • Use the palms of your hands to push product into the hair
  • After applying CPR, flat wrap hair around the client's head and cover with a processing cap

Step 5: Apply heat

Apply heat for up to 45 minutes. Use a constant, consistent heat source, such as a traditional hooded dryer, heat lamp, or the Spa Mist II.

Step 6: Remove from heat

After processing is complete, remove the client from heat. Do not allow to cool.

Step 7: Rinse

Remove the processing cap and pull product from the hair using your fingers like a squeegee. Rinse the product from the hair using moderately hot water until the water runs clear.

Step 8: Shampoo

Shampoo the hair three times using Un-Do-Goo pH 9 Shampoo, massaging and lathering vigorously. Move your hands down the hair shaft while scrubbing the product from the hair, and rinse.

Step 9: Assess the results

Determine if you've achieved your desired amount of removal.

  • You can expect to receive 1-3 levels of artificial pigment removal using Color Disruptor and CPR. If the desired amount of removal is not achieved, repeat steps 2-8 up to 3 times.
  • It may be necessary to remove more than 1-3 levels of pigment. In this scenario, your next step is to use Malibu C DDL XL following the Color Disruptor and CPR service.

Step 10: Condition

If the desired amount of removal is achieved, condition with Malibu C Miracle Repair Hair Reconstructor. When providing a chemical service, apply Miracle Repair following the chemical service.
