Metallic Eyes

Cynthia Rowley’s 100th runway show, held at the Classic Car Club at Pier 76 for the unveiling of their Spring/Summer collection, featured makeup looks inspired by fluid reflections seen in the car paint lit up by Cadillac cars seen on the catwalk. Stila Cosmetics Global Beauty Director Charlie Riddle applied metallic shades of platinum silver, gold, and cypress, which were crushed into pigments to be used as eyeshadow.

“The focus is all in the eye with an effortless, almost abstract application of chrome and metallic shades finished with a clean lash, no mascara and a brushed-up natural eyebrow,” Riddle says. We used swatches of gold, platinum and cypress green on the eyes for a true metallic chrome finish, complemented by just-bitten, nude lips.”

Sleek and Slick Hair

The hair was shiny, sophisticated, and polished at Luar, where hairstylist Evanie Fausto created glassy sculptured hair looks while at Khaite, hairstylist Guido Palau styled slick, low ponytails with gold hair cuffs at the base. At Max Mara, slicked-back chignons with center parts were styled by Odile Gilbert, and models donned sleek half-updos at Tory Burch. The Alaïa runway showcased slicked-back and sleek ponytails mimicking faux pixie effects in the front while Missoni emphasized the “clean girl” slick bun look.

Statement Lashes

Lashes were big and bold at Dries Van Noten where yellow and magenta lashes created a fiery effect, while at Diotima, red and white accents were reflected in colorful eyelashes for drama and definition. Studio 54-inspired “disco lashes” by makeup artist Pat McGrath reigned supreme at Bottega Veneta who adorned eyes with expressive elements like graphic black liner and metallic lashes, and used a glittering gold eyeshadow in-between lashes.

Chrome Nails

The inspiration for the chrome nails spotted on Libertine’s runway stemmed from the show’s location: Elizabeth Street Garden in New York City. Using CND nail polishes, nail artist Julie Kandalec applied a true silver chrome pigment over the entire nail using a sponge applicator, followed by another layer of CND SHELLAC No Wipe+ Top Coat to seal the effect.

Using a detailed art brush, she created a half-moon design using CND SHELLAC in Catching Light. “My inspiration for the Libertine nail looks came from when I learned that the designers were inspired to save the Elizabeth Street Garden,” Kandalec says. “Seeing the location and the designs, I envisioned the transition from day to night.

The yellow moon at night, or the sun, symbolizes the constant light that shines over the garden—a guiding force of hope and growth. The yellow moon became a central element, embodying warmth, protection, and the natural beauty we wanted to celebrate.”

French Inspired Bob Haircut Trend

French-Inspired Bobs

Relaxed and effortless French bobs were all the rage at the L’Agence runway show, created by hairstylist Liz Rim. “We were inspired by the balance between technology and humanity—a modern Parisian look with a touch of futurism,” she says. To recreate the look for clients in the salon, Rim recommends starting with a sharp, chin-length bob for clean structure before adding soft, face-framing fringe to balance the precision with an effortless feel. Clients will love this look because it’s chic, versatile, and modern,” Rim adds. “It’s incredibly adaptable—whether they want a sleek, professional look or something more relaxed with texture, it’s easy to style at home.”

Two-Toned Lips

To complement the ethereal designs at LoveShackFancy’s Spring 2025 show, makeup artist Nam Vo envisioned a beauty look that was feminine and delicately radiant. Lips featured a reverse popsicle effect with a bright berry shade concentrated in the center and gently diffused outward with a rose water sparkle. At Simone Rocha, makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver applied dark burgundy lipstick to the center of a brighter red lipstick, creating a dramatic multidimensional effect.

Textured Waves

Wavy hair is always in, and the Coach, Brandon Maxwell, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger shows all opted for relaxed, natural-looking beachy waves with plenty of dimension and volume. Lead hairstylist Charlie Le Mindu tapped into Mother Nature for inspiration when creating the hairstyles for Collina Strada’s SS25 runway show, where models resembled modern-day Rapunzels with floor-length wigs and enhanced natural waves. To achieve the look, Le Mindu applied texture spray and a finishing oil to messy braids, flat-ironing them, then taking them out to reveal textured beach waves.

Platinum Wigs

The models at Dolce & Gabbana paid tribute to Hollywood blonde icons like Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. Donning plain black headbands and lace-front platinum blonde wigs that were dyed to match the original Material Girl’s iconic shade from her ‘90s era, wigs were pre-styled into pin curls, then held in place with creaseless crips.

Rock and Roll Pompadour Trend 2025

Rock ‘N’ Roll Pompadours

The hair at Anna Sui was inspired by 1940s rockers and created by celebrity hairstylist and R+Co Co-Founder Garren. “It’s a nod to the 1940s and 1950s when guys did a slicked-back pompadour, but with a modern approach,” he says.

To recreate the look, Garren recommends prepping hair by either drying naturally or blow-drying, and using a combination of detangling mist, root booster, and a hair tonic. Part the hair from ear to ear across the crown. Then, either leave the back down in its natural state or brush all the hair forward into a top knot, pulling it down so it falls on the forehead.

If leaving the back down, hold hair into a ponytail and wrap a coated rubber band around it. Twist it up and lock it into the band itself, or use a few hair pins to secure it. Make it a roll effect, like a little donut, and drop it onto the forehead. To finish the look, use a flexible sprayto hold hair in place.
